Overview

shortlist (“we,” “us,” “our”) operates the shortlist mobile application. This policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, and your rights. By using the App you agree to this policy.

Data We Collect

Account information: your display name and email address when you register.
Profile picture: if you choose to upload one.
Reviews, ratings, and votes: content you submit within the App, stored and displayed publicly.
Follow relationships: users you follow and who follow you.
AI chat messages: text you send in the AI Fantasy Chat feature, transmitted to Anthropic’s API to generate responses.
Usage and device data: app version, device type, OS version, crash logs, and basic usage patterns — used to maintain and improve the App.

How We Use Your Data

To operate your account and provide all App features.
To display your profile, reviews, ratings, and achievements to other users.
To process votes in the festival voting system.
To power the AI Fantasy Chat via Anthropic’s API.
To diagnose bugs and improve App performance.
To enforce our Terms and Conditions and prevent abuse.

We do not sell your personal data.

Third-Party Services

We use Firebase (Google) for authentication, data storage, and file storage. We use Anthropic to power the AI Fantasy Chat. All services process data on our behalf under their own privacy policies and data processing terms. Your chat messages are sent to Anthropic to generate AI responses.

Publicly Visible Information

Your username, profile picture, reviews, ratings, achievements, and follow counts are visible to all App users. Please be mindful of what you share.

Data Retention & Deletion

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. To delete your account and personal data, email us at shortlist@verticalshortsfestival.com with the subject “Account Deletion Request.” We will process your request within 30 days.

Children’s Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect data from children below this age. If you believe a child has registered, contact us and we will promptly delete the account.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and to object to or restrict how we process it. EEA and UK users have rights under the GDPR; California residents have rights under the CCPA/CPRA. To exercise any right, contact us at shortlist@verticalshortsfestival.com. We will respond within 30 days.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via an in-app notice and, where practical, by email. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
